Omaha For All features artwork created through Omaha For Us’s artist residency with Nebraska Arts Council Artist-in-Residence Kim Darling. The exhibition explores collectivism as a creative practice within the ever-changing life of a community center.
Through a series of intergenerational workshops, teens, adults, and seniors were invited to recognize their creative potential and experiment with vibrant, interdisciplinary artmaking. Participants worked with professional and found materials provided free of charge, creating artwork in a welcoming environment rooted in kinship, access, and expression without pressure to perform.
The exhibition reflects the belief that community is cumulative: individual visits, shared moments, and creative actions layer together into lasting connection and meaning. As people continually come and go, the act of sharing space becomes a way of co-creating a common story.
Omaha ForUs builds intentional community and creates equitable space in service to LGBTQ+ individuals and families of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.
“I loved it because it was personalized, supplies were provided so you had unlimited resources to work with, and you were with other beginners, so there was less pressure to be perfect.”
